Research Assistant, M.S

Description

 

We are seeking a research assistant (RA; graduate degree) for a NASA-funded project focusing on the intersection of geospatial modeling, citizen science and machine learning NASA GLOBE Observer. The chosen candidates will play a central role in our collaborative research team hosting Hackathons and workshops in community colleges in Wyoming. The graduate assistant will be involved in all aspects of research, including designing and implementing protocols, recruiting and mentoring youth participants, collecting and analyzing geospatial data. The RA will also have opportunities and be encouraged to write research articles for peer-reviewed publication and present the research results at national/international conferences.

 

Wyoming Geographic Information Science Center (WyGISC) Master of Science in Geospatial Information Science and Technology (GIST) welcomes applicants who want to develop and improve their geospatial knowledge and data science skills.

 

Qualifications:

1.     Ability to work independently

2.     Effective communication (orally and written) with adults and youth from multiple backgrounds

3.     Worked with Geographic Information Systems, and data visualization

4.     Enthusiastic about citizen science

 

The M.S research assistant position is 50% time (20 hours/week), comes with a competitive M.S. stipend, tuition and fees, health insurance, and budget for conferences. The position will be open until filled with a preferred start date of Fall, 2021 or January 2022
